Niagara, Canada, September 26, 2024 — Sri Lankan tea producers shone brightly at the North American Tea Conference (NATC) 2024, with multiple companies securing top awards for their premium teas. The event, held at Queen’s Landing, Niagara on the Lake, recognized the best teas from across the world, focusing on quality, flavor, and sustainability.
Lumbini Tea Valley Ceylon took home the Gold Medal for their Black Singharaja Wirytips, while Kelani Valley Plantation’s White Silver Tips were also awarded top honors. In addition to the product awards, Sri Lankan companies received accolades for their sustainability efforts, highlighting the country’s commitment to environmentally friendly tea production.
Niraj de Mel, chairman of the Sri Lanka Tea Board, expressed pride in the achievements, stating, “These awards underscore the global recognition of Ceylon Tea’s unmatched quality and our continuous efforts to lead in sustainable practices.” The conference also served as a platform for discussing new trends and future challenges in the tea industry
