Colombo, July 26, 2024 — The Colombo International Tea Convention 2024 concluded successfully, bringing together key stakeholders from the global tea industry to discuss the future of tea production. The event, held from July 24 to 26, focused on the theme “Tea: A Lifestyle and A Livelihood,” with discussions ranging from sustainable farming practices to innovative product development.
Sanjaya Herath, chairman of the Colombo Tea Traders Association, remarked, “This year’s convention was a milestone for Sri Lanka as we celebrated 130 years of the Colombo Tea Traders Association, reflecting on how far the industry has come and how we can drive it forward.”
The convention also highlighted the importance of sustainability, with sessions addressing climate change’s impact on tea production and exploring innovative solutions to uplift tea-growing communities. Leaders from countries including Kenya, India, China, and Sri Lanka participated, making it a truly global event
